Ford Motor Company unveiled the first-ever F-150 Raptor R on July 18. Not with a typical launch film, but with a short horror film, “SCARY FAST.”
In partnership with Wieden+Kennedy New York, the film was shot in the Utah desert and directed by up-and-coming horror filmmaker, Lauren Sick—most recently known for directing Dove Cameron’s notoriously dark music video, “Boyfriend”. The film conveys the thrills of the Raptor R in a way that anyone can appreciate, regardless of whether or not you’re passionate about trucks.
The cast of the launch film consists of a rabid wolf, rattlesnakes, a scorpion, bats, and an actual monster. Everything from the music selection to the sound design, to the editorial approach was strategically crafted to feel less like a truck ad, and more like a trailer for a grindhouse movie—something Ford has never done before.
