In pain and pride, the words were said. When we defied, and mourned our dead. Black Lives Matter. A simple phrase. A phrase that set the world ablaze. Ten years later, post Twitter chatter, After allies scatter, We Still Matter.
This year marks ten years since the first utterance of the phrase “Black Lives Matter”.
A decade where so much has changed, but so much is still the same. A decade where the phrase has gone from being an inflammatory, controversial statement to banal, trite stickers. Ten years later, we want to pay homage to the modern-day movement that changed the world, and our lives.
This Black History Month, we’re proudly proclaiming that We Still Matter. In spite of everything that has happened, the good and the bad, We Still Matter. This project was a meditation on the last 10 years. We reflected on the inception of the movement and the impact it's had on our collective humanity. We're deeply hopeful for a future where we won't have to say to remind the world that We Still Matter.
